The seven cases
- UPPERCASE — shouting, headings, acronyms.
- lowercase — normal text, URLs.
- Title Case — every major word capitalized; the standard for article and book titles.
- Sentence case — only the first word capitalized; the standard for UI copy and most blogs.
- camelCase — first word lower, following words joined and capitalized: JavaScript variables.
- snake_case — words joined with underscores: Python conventions.
- kebab-case — words joined with hyphens: CSS classes and URLs.
When to use which
- Code style guides are strict: Python →
snake_case, JS →camelCase, CSS/URLs →kebab-case. - Title Case rules vary (little words like "of" and "the" stay lowercase in AP style) — this converter capitalizes every word; adjust manually for style-guide purity.
- Mixing cases is the classic copy-paste bug — convert once, then paste consistently.
Pair with the Slug Generator when the target is a URL, or the Word Counter for length checks.
