What Causes Emails to Land in Spam?
Modern mailbox providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) evaluate incoming mail across multiple technical and behavioral layers:
- Domain Authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC): Missing or misconfigured DNS records cause immediate rejection or spam folder routing.
- Subject Line Traps: ALL CAPS, excessive punctuation (
!!!,???), false urgency, or deceptive re/fwd prefixes trigger filtering algorithms. - Spam Trigger Phrases: High density of aggressive sales claims, exaggerated guarantees, or lottery/crypto terminology.
- Unsubscribe Compliance: Under 2024+ Gmail and Yahoo requirements, commercial senders must provide one-click unsubscribe headers.
